As The College App Doctor, I use my expertise to help students find the best match for the college or university of their choice and achieve the best version of their college essay and the application process.

I also help establish the foundation for writing from a younger age. When kids learn how to write and think critically in elementary school and middle school, the path to high school and a college application is smoother.

Learning how to use the English language in the most efficient way and knowing how to write effectively is a LIFE SKILL.

My mission is to help students identify the narrative that differentiates them and to use introspection to pinpoint the added value that will make their stories catch the eye of the college admissions committee.

Writing Excellence. The College App Doctor program teaches short-term tips and tactics for writing an unforgettable college essay. In addition, it builds a more holistic foundation in persuasive writing that places the student at an advantage come freshman year of college.

Decision Mastery. The process equips students with the tools they need to make empowered and confident choices for a suitable major that matches their individual talents and for every significant fork in the academic road to come.

Emotional Safety. One study found that nearly 3 out of 4 students report high stress about their college applications. I use my training as a certified NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) therapist to help students and families cope with uncertainty, construct feelings of courage, and conquer feelings of fear that often prevent students from daring to apply to the colleges of their dreams.

ABOUT ME

​

My professional and personal experiences equip me with the skills to navigate the entire application process from four distinct perspectives.

 

High schools. For 12 years I have taught at Ransom Everglades High School, one of the highest-performing and most selective private preparatory academies in the United States. During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to work with hundreds of students and to directly observe the inner workings of the high school-to-college pipeline.

Colleges. I know what universities are looking for because I’ve been a college professor for more than two decades, teaching at NYU, Hunter College, Florida International University, and others, where my position as faculty afforded me a close look at the ever-evolving standards and expectations for today’s university admissions. Within my capacity as a university professor, I have published papers and delivered them at over 30 universities in the US and Europe and I am familiar with universities inside out. 

Professional Education. I use my experience as I have been educated in the highest academic institutions in the world. I hold three post-doctorate degrees from Columbia University, Fordham University, and New York University (NYU). My Ph.D. is from the University of Paris (Sorbonne). 

 

Families. Along with my academic expertise, I personally identify with this work based on my experience as a parent whose children went through their own successful college application processes. After all, my family has been here, too.
